Choose a hand-tie for carrying. Add a vase for flowers going straight to a bedside.

What to include

Give the handover date, a favourite colour and any scents to avoid. Mention a long journey before the stems reach water.

A narrow bottle suits a few long stems. A flared vase gives a fuller bunch room.

What to measure

Give the vase height and the width across its opening. Under a shelf, measure the clearance above the rim.

Choose a low bowl for a round table or small vases between serving dishes.

What to count

Count tables and vessels separately. Include the date, table shapes, space after laying places and when the room opens.
